Jayce Hawrlyuk models his game after his favorite player, Brad Marchand.
Don’t you hate Brad Marchand? Me too.
That’s because he’s an agitator that can score.
Wouldn’t that be nice to have that in a Florida Panthers uniform?
If given the chance that’s what Hawrlyuk wants to bring to the table. He says that isn’t part of his game, but he racked up 260 penalty minutes playing with the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings. His willingness to drop the gloves also cost him when he broke his hand during a rookie camp game fight with Washington’s Jakub Vrana.
Panther management was eager to see how Hawrlyuk’s game would translate in the AHL last year, but they would have to wait 18 games while his hand healed after surgery. Then in his debut he was blindsided by Connor Jones of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and was forced to miss another 11 games.
Obviously he and the Panthers were frustrated, but he was finally able to get on track and finished with a respectable nine goals and 17 assists in 47 games in his first year as a pro. To put this in perspective, he compiled 106 points (47 goals) the previous season for the Wheat Kings in 58 games.
He can play. He expects more from himself. So do the Panthers.
At Panthers Development Camp in June, I had the chance to speak with Jayce for a few minutes and he discusses his hand and confidence level in making the Panthers this year.
As a 21-year-old player you can tell he is mature both mentally and physically. He’s a solid 5’10”, 192 lbs. and will likely add more weight in the coming years. There are several players vying for a few spots, especially at LW.
Could Hawrlyuk make a case to make the team next season? It’s certainly possible. A third or fourth line spot could be his if he shows the promise that comes with being picked 32nd overall in the 2014 NHL Draft.
If there is one thing the Panthers lacked last year it was toughness. Director of North American Scouting Jason Bakula admitted this year’s draft was largely to make up for getting a little soft last season, especially defensively.
If Hawrlyuk can eventually become Florida’s version of something close to Marchand, it will be a welcomed, scrappy, addition to a team trying to regain it’s identity from two years ago.

My childhood was a typical mid-western one:family, friends, and lots of athletics.I spent most of my time on the soccer field, eventually playing for my high school varsity and a regional travel squad.
I also dabbled a bit in basketball, but still was prone to using my feet, much to the dismay of my coach! I made good grades, had lots of friends, and enjoyed growing up in my small Ohio town. Deep inside, however, I yearned for a change in scenery.
When college came calling, I decided to attend Boston University. This gave me the city, the excitement, and the different perspective on the world I was looking for. I love that town, and a piece of my heart will always reside there.
At BU, I met amazing people, was exposed to a broad spectrum of ideas, and developed a wider sense of who I was in the world.
I also discovered art.
Pictures, paintings, sculptures… I absorbed every medium I could get my eyes upon. This newly discovered passion prompted me to spend a semester abroad, studying in Padova, Italy.
I had never been so far from the house I grew up in, but I also felt so amazingly at home. My thirst for travel was born during those four months, and I continue to crave it to this day.
After graduating with an Art History and Chemistry degree, I felt a bit lost.I was a great student, and a hard worker, but no vocation really called to me.I followed my passion for art to an internship at the Museum of Contemporary Art | Denver, which turned into my first professional job.
But I wasn’t complete.
I left Colorado, and followed the call of year-round flip flop weather in Florida. Leaning on my Chemistry background, I began teaching Physical Science in Orlando.I was NOT a natural, but I was determined to become a true educator. It was a true grind, but with each passing year I grew and matured as an instructor.
Before long, I was looked to as a model teacher and mentor to others. I was creating the type of career of which I could be proud.Although rewarding at times, the school year was a brutal gauntlet with sky high stress.
In my heart, something was still missing. After 10 years, I left the classroom, ready to find my next challenge.
I didn’t wander far from education, and began working in sales for a large textbook company. After being a teacher my whole professional life, I was interested in seeing how the business side worked. And boy was I surprised what I saw.
I was not used to the cutthroat backroom dealings that came with trying to close a deal.My specific role was as a consultant, a liaison to the customer. And at my core I am a teacher, so I relate well with them, and I was good at my job.
I soon realized, however, regardless of how many textbooks and resources I sold, I was not going to see any more zeros in my bank account.
In the classroom, I understood that part of the deal was working for pennies.
Outside of the classroom, I expected to be fairly compensated for the work that I did. When I realized that was not the case, I became disenfranchised and started looking for a way out.
For years, I had watched Danny grow as an internet marketer. I saw his success, his freedom… but I always had a reason for not joining him.
As an educator, it feels like a calling, not a career.I felt I could not turn my back on my students or my fellow teachers. As an educational consultant, I was no longer held to that standard. Instead, I was filling someone else pockets.
Honestly, calling myself a novice at the beginning is overselling my knowledge base.
By a long shot.
But the greatest part about this industry is the amount of support and training provided to help you get a quick start. Not only did I have Danny in my corner, I had a slew of individuals to call upon as mentors and examples of what I should model my new career after.
No longer a complete newbie, I love that every day my “job” is to learn something new and share it with others.I love that I am still an educator at my core, utilizing the same skills created long ago.
But now, I use them to create the life that I want to live, where I want to live it, and with whom I want to live it.
Growing up in Miami, FL provided me with being able to play all sports, all year around. While I excelled in football, baseball, and basketball throughout my youth and high school years, golf won out as my true passion.
I won several tournaments in the Dade Amateur Golf Association in Miami and played 4 years in senior high school.
Loyola graduation with Tracey, Natalie, and Kathy!
I had the honor of graduating from Loyola in 1994, but even though I had a degree from a very good school, my focus was still on golf and eventually turning pro.Soon after graduation I was selected as Loyola’s first ever Golf Coach, which officially started my career as a golf professional.
For the next 4 years I worked on my game constantly in the restaurant industry at night in the French Quarter. It was a very hard, grueling process to get my game in shape.
In 1999 I turned professional in golf and was a touring pro for a little over two years. After getting my butt whipped for most of that time, I finally won my first professional tournament in Panama City, FL, in December of 2001.
While that was a culmination of a lot of hard work and a LOT of failure along the way, the post-9/11 world made it very hard on my sponsor to keep me playing full-time.She called me to let me know she regrettably had to pull out of her sponsorship, which was a crushing blow.
That was my first real taste of the risk in relying upon others for your life and income.
Begrudgingly I went back into the restaurant business and also worked at a few Denver area golf courses as a club pro. While that was fine for that time in my life, I was still in a lot of pain from losing out on my dream of potentially earning a spot on the PGA Tour.
While Denver is a beautiful place(I still miss it), I couldn’t do my golf thing all year round so I decided to move to Orlando, FL, where I ran and operated my own golf academy for 8 years.
But something was missing.
Even though I had my own business, it was still like a job.I was still a slave to a schedule, and clients, and weather. It was a grind.I was burnt out.Business was slowing down, especially during the summer.
So one day I did what most shortsighted people do and went looking for a part-time job to supplement my income. Here I was burnt out from having one job and now I was looking for another. How does that make sense?
I was on Craigslist and came across an ad claiming I could get paid for blogging.Since I like to write I clicked on it and before I knew it I was in my first internet marketing company.I wasn’t even looking for it but that day changed my life forever.
It was then I realized that if I just learned what I needed to learn and apply the skills other successful marketers were already implementing, I could succeed on my own terms and not have to rely on anyone else.
Like anything new, it took a little time to get my routines down, but what has happened since has been glorious.
I’ve made tens of thousands of dollars in the online world(including several $3000 days), have helped and sponsored hundreds of people, and came to realize this is the life I was born to live.Helping others live their dreams truly keeps me going every day and is the most fulfilling thing I have ever done.
Ray and I in Orlando being recognized as top earners!
My grinding revealed to me the easy ways and hard ways to go for people to leverage the internet for passive income, and it is my pleasure to share my expertise with those that are dedicated to their success and a better life.
While being on stage at multiple company events as an earnings leader is gratifying, being up on stage with my own teammates means more to me than anything, because helping others achieve massive results is most important to me.
I know I will be helping many more people in the future achieve similar results.
Because of my new-found time and financial freedom online, I have been able to fulfill a dream of moving into one of my favorite cities, Chicago.

MY PERSONAL VISION STATEMENT
I, Dan Spiegel, walk forward with a vision of abundance and a no-excuse approach in helping others achieve any results they desire.
I dedicate myself to excellence physically, financially, emotionally, and spiritually.
My ultimate goal is to lead by example that the life we were told we are supposed to live does not have to be so.Leaving our futures in the hands of others is not the destiny of the successful.
I will continuously focus on creating success for all of my team, making their goals and dream of paramount importance to me.I will give back true value to my community with thankfulness and gratitude.
Striving and continuing to grow is a promise I make to myself and others, for it is sharing such growth that inspires and motivates others to partake in the actions that create astonishing results.
I will be a leader in my local community and consistently be thankful for my life and the lives I am helping create that is in line with true prosperity, abundance, and happiness.
